On January 20th SPA hosted the Inter-Church Games for the Link area churches. Nine teams, representing twelve churches, took part in ‘knock-out’ challenges in Table Tennis, Dominoes and Ludo. Individual winners were:
Glyn Hare from Holy Trinity at Table Tennis;
Neil Monk from the Salvation Army at Dominoes;
Tim Monk from the Salvation Army at Ludo.
The overall runaway winners were the team from the Salvation Army who will hold the trophy this year. Lieut. Leanne Wallis and their supporters were delighted!
We also held a ‘Clergy Contest’ in which eight members of the Clergy (including Rev. Alison) played Pool. This was won by Rev. Peter Knight from St. Matthias.
At 8.30 we had a break from games (though not from chatter!) when a buffet supper was served by church members who manned (or womanned?) the kitchen. We from Games Evening are always grateful for the food and support from SPA. for this event.
Unlike a meeting with an agenda this evening gives a chance to intermingle with friends and associates from many churches – a special opportunity and privilege.
Rev. Rosemary Herbert presented the winners cards and trophies and our own minister, Rev. Alison, closed the evening with thanks and a prayer.
