SPRINGBOARD TO ACTION
Saturday April 14th 2018, 10.00 am to 4.30 pm
Lansdowne Crescent Methodist Church, Malvern, WR14 2AW
We are working with the Home Office to bring a refugee family to safety in the Malvern area under the UK Government Full Community Sponsorship scheme. We expect that, within the next few months our community will be supporting a family.
This day is to prepare volunteers and members of our community who are likely to be involved in welcoming refugees to Malvern, so that we are aware of the challenges such families face and are generous in our response.
Aspects to be covered will include:
Safeguarding Data protection
Well-being of volunteers Cultural awareness
Helping refugees to integrate Testimonies of refugees
This will be an interesting and inspiring day. Teachers in local schools, playgroup staff, those involved in medical practices, local councillors and other members of the Malvern Community are all most welcome.
The event is free. Lunch will be provided - a donation towards the cost of £6.50 would be welcome.

Malvern Welcomes, was formed in October 2014 and became a charity in July 2017. Our aim is to support the resettlement of refugees in the Malvern Hills area and to provide practical assistance and advice. We work to nurture a culture of welcome in which people fleeing violence and the horrors of war can live fulfilled and happy lives as part of the community, free from poverty, discrimination and harassment.
